Thoughtfulness

Molly,

It's amazing the things you do or think of that are completely unprompted by Daddy or me... like learning all the words to "Defying Gravity" from Glee in like two days, or separating the recycling from the trash when you throw stuff away.

Today, it was creating a card for your soccer coach.

You've always been thoughtful when it comes to cards, like the time you wanted to create a get well card for Jade the elephant.  (That still gets me.)  So when you said you wanted to make a card for Coach John, I didn't think much of it.  You dictated to me all you wanted to say, then you went off to finish it.

Here's what you came up with:

Yes, that's a picture of the whole team (or as many of them as can fit on one page) with Coach John in his signature red baseball hat.  ("He always wears a red hat," Molly informed me.)  I was just amazed and touched that that was the picture in your head of your soccer coach and team that you wanted to share.

Awesome.

(By the way, Coach John thought the card was very sweet.  He loved your drawing and was amazed that you came up with that all by yourself.)

Love you, peanut.

A Day in the Life - October 17, 2009

About a week ago, I realized that today was going to be a BUSY day today.  A perfect storm of activities madness:  soccer game, ballet lesson, and a Halloween party.  All in one day.  Plus add to that a meeting with our financial planner.  Big fun.

(Normally, ballet is at 11... but this week, the soccer game was scheduled for 11.  Luckily, Molly's wonderful ballet teacher agreed to have class at noon... since three of the four girls wouldn't have been there otherwise!)

When I realized how nutty the day was going to be (that would be when Molly I and determined on the way to school that she would require no less than six costume changes for the day's events...) I thought it might be fun to take a photo every hour on the hour just to capture what our day was like.  Amazingly enough, I remembered to do it most of the day.

So here it is:  A Day in Our Life:

7:15 a.m.

What was really happening at 7:15 a.m.

And the posed version...

8:15 a.m.

On our way to the bagel store to have a little breakfast...

9:15 a.m.

Watching "Imagination Movers" on her MP3 player while Mommy and Daddy met with their financial planner at the bank.

(Funny side story: at the bank, we say your favorite barista from Starbucks.  Her name is Molly.  She - of course - remembered you immediately.  She's applying for colleges - Vanderbilt and Wash U.  Go, Molly!)

10:15 a.m.

Heading to the soccer field...

It was C O L D.

How cold?

Daddy dressed up like the Unibomber cold.

11:15 a.m.

Game on!

12:15 a.m.

One snack and our first costume change later... and we've transformed from soccer player into ballerina...

1:15 p.m.

(Missed the photo here... eating lunch of homemade chili.  Mmmmmm.)

2:15 p.m.

Crash...

3:15 p.m.

Back up... costume on... ready to go party.

4:15 and 5:15 p.m.

Party pics!

6:15 p.m.

Reading with Daddy while Mommy makes dinner...

7:15 p.m.

Calling Grandpa to tell him "Get Well Soon!"  (Also doing sticker art, at the same time.)

8:15 p.m.

Bath time... last photo of the night.  What a way to end the day.

The Ladybugs' First Game

Since they have red shirts, Coach John and the parents have nicknamed Molly's team The Ladybugs.  (Although Aaron suggested Red October and Ellie's mom suggested The Red Menace.... both of which got a big laugh from the parents.)

Um, Molly... you're looking the wrong way...

The first game was very exciting -- all of you looked so cute in your pink soccer socks!  We played your friend Isabella's team (The Blueberries), so it was great to see her.  I have to say, soccer is MUCH more exciting to watch than t-ball.  We cheered for everyone and it was amazing to see how some of your teammates really got their game on!  Paige was throwing elbows and Hailey was kickin' it like Brandi Chastain.

Right before kick off.

Coach John and Molly
Best of all, you really seem to be enjoying soccer.  No complaints about practice or having to go (which is FANTASTIC).  You're getting a ton of exercise.  And the weather has been so freakishly, unseasonably nice, that's it's wonderful to sit outside and watch you run and run and run.

My favorite part:  "Good game... good game... good game... good game...."

Headin' home...
